Conservative Dating Florida: Sunshine and Shared Values

Our third-biggest state, and the one with the widest spread of ages.

Florida has the most grown-up crowd of any state we cover

Florida is our third-biggest state, and its members are older than anywhere else we cover. Almost four in ten Florida members are 45 or over, and about one in eight is 65 or over. That makes Florida a good place to look if you are 45 or over yourself. Two in three Florida members are women.

Florida has also become one of the most reliably conservative big states in the country.

South Florida, the Gulf, the Panhandle

Miami and South Florida

Our biggest Florida group of women lives around Miami. Many of South Florida's Cuban American and Venezuelan American voters lean conservative.

Tampa Bay and the Gulf Coast

Tampa, St. Petersburg, Sarasota and the towns up and down the Gulf mix young families with retirees. Spring training baseball in February and March is a classic Florida first date.

Central Florida and The Villages

Orlando's suburbs are growing fast, and The Villages, north of Orlando, is one of the country's best-known conservative retirement communities, with golf carts, dances and a busy social calendar.

Jacksonville and the Panhandle

Northeast Florida and the Panhandle feel more Deep South than Miami does, with Navy bases at Jacksonville and Pensacola, churches on every corner and quiet beaches along the Emerald Coast.

Florida first dates

  1. An airboat ride in the Everglades, then lunch at a fish camp.
  2. A spring training game, with sunscreen and a hot dog.
  3. Sunset at a Gulf Coast beach, where the sun drops into the water.
  4. A Fourth of July boat parade or fireworks over the water.
  5. A morning on a fishing pier in the Keys or the Panhandle.

New to Florida? You are in good company

Florida has drawn more newcomers from other states than almost anywhere in recent years, many of them from New York, New Jersey, Illinois and California. If you have just arrived, dating is one of the quickest ways to build a new circle. Say on your profile where you moved from and why; it is an easy opener, and plenty of Floridians made the same move.

If you split your time between Florida and another state as a snowbird, say so on your profile, so people know when you will be around.

Meeting safely in a busy state

Florida's beaches and tourist towns are busy year-round, which makes public first dates easy. Keep the first meeting somewhere with people around, tell a friend your plans, and keep messages on Maga-Dating until you have met. Romance scammers often target older daters, so never send money to someone you have not met. Our safety page explains how we help.
